Examinations are available from Grade One through to Advanced plus Solo Performance Diploma.
Assessments also available at all levels.
For the pre school and younger dancer 4 to 8 years see the Rosette Pre Grades.
The NZAMD Ballet Syllabus has been refreshed with new choreography and music. Dance sequences replace the old allegro exercises and the work is delightful and stylish.
Throughout there are exercises, sequences and dances especially choreographed for the male dancer.
Ballet is an important base for most dance disciplines, and the NZAMD Ballet syllabus is designed to allow students to progress without pressure, the length of the lower grades making it attractive for the once a week student, as well as being progressively challenging for the more committed student.
We encourage the development of strong musicality and expressive port de bras with dynamics and energy throughout the allegro section. Music CDs are supplied with the syllabus notes and DVD, however music throughout can be the teacher’s own choice.
In the new Major Grades a Set Dance must be performed to the set music to qualify for a NZAMD Scholarship Nomination.
Grades Seven to Nine sit alongside the Major Grades with the same syllabus for the student who does not want pointe work in the examination and without the need for the teacher to timetable separate classes.
All levels include a dance and Grades One and two also include an expressive Mime which encourages the students to develop their acting ability.
Uniform – leotards may be any style or colour. Flat ballet shoes may be worn throughout, with a change into point shoes for the Point section.
As with all our examinations, entry fees are kept at a realistic level, and used within New Zealand for the benefit of our members and students.
